My Best Advice For The Sober Curious

Writer: Andrea ShawAndrea Shaw

Updated: Aug 7, 2022

After years of coaching people on this path, I’ve noticed something.

I hear myself say the same things over and over. These words have become the little bits of advice that seem to help people sink into their choice to follow an alcohol-free path.

Here are my top 5 bits of wisdom for those considering an alcohol-free life:

1.) The perfect time is right now. There will always be a party or trip or "reason" to wait. The right time to stop is when you decide to stop waiting for the right time.

2.) You get to choose when enough is enough. You don't have to hit a "bottom." You can just decide you've reached the end.

3.) Forever can feel scary, so just set your intention each morning that for TODAY you will not drink. Take it one day at a time (this is a popular AA mantra for a reason!)

4.) Come back to your "Why." This is your center. What are the top reasons you desire an alcohol-free life? They can be big reasons or small reasons.

5.) You don’t have to hit a massive bottom and people don’t have to “agree” with you or think you drink too much. YOU get to set the standards for your own life and how you choose to live it.

Which one of these resonates most?

Sending big love your way -

xx Andrea
